Russia’s Chukotka gold output falls 4.8% to 24 tns in 2018

ANADYR, Jan 14 (PRIME) -- Gold production on Russia’s Chukotka peninsula decreased 4.81% on the year to 24.130 tonnes in 2018, an official at the regional industry policy, construction, and housing and utilities department told PRIME on Monday.

Placer gold output grew 11% to 2.583 tonnes.

Output of Chukotka Mining and Geological Company, a unit of Kinross Gold, rose 2.79% to 10.005 tonnes of gold, and silver output fell 12.98% to 96.656 tonnes.

Gold production of Severnoye Zoloto, Kinross Gold’s affiliate that develops the Dvoinoye deposit, fell 47.92% to 4.145 tonnes, and silver production decreased 51.17% to 5.887 tonnes.

Output of gold concentrate at the Maiskoye deposit, developed by Polymetal’s unit, rose 55.7% to 4.668 tonnes.

Output of Rudnik Karalveyem, owned by Israeli businessman Lev Levayev, rose 16.42% to 1.71 tonnes, silver production rose by 25.8 kilograms to 192.09 kilograms.

Valunisty Mine, controlled by Highland Gold Mining since January 2019, reduced its gold output by 23.7% to 658.4 kilograms and silver output by 12.34% to 6.58 tonnes.
